best cyber jackets 2020
hey what's up this is Africa by toto
here
why would I someone that's made 150
videos about different kinds of tech
wear clothing suddenly make one telling
people not to buy tech equipment that
seems a little bit counterintuitive and
no I'm not rebranding my channel now
that nobody's gonna be leaving the house
what I want to achieve is not for you to
literally stop buying the kinds of
things I've talked about on this channel
but to stop buying things because they
are tech wear clothing and that might
seem a little bit confusing but
essentially what I want you to do is to
change the way that you think about
these kinds of purchases and that's
going to lead you to make better
purchasing decisions when it comes to
fashion and this kind of fashion in
particular this is a particularly
important topic because not only is tech
wear relatively expensive compared to
other kinds of fashion but lots of
people enter wanting to dress in this
style with no real prior background or
interest in fashion so it can lead to
some expensive mistakes and it's really
important to make smart purchases so
with that in mind let's begin something
I've explored a bit before is that tech
wear is a unique sub-genre of fashion
because it has this extra criteria for
judgment the idea of utility and
performance over and above just looks
alone and you will sometimes find people
commenting on tech wear outfits like
what makes this tech where or why is
this tech wear and that gives people a
sense like they have to justify why X
item or why trousers or whatever that
they're wearing represent tech wear you
know these are waterproof or these are
really breathable or they're very
futuristic or whatever this leads new
people to feel like the constituent
parts of a tech wear outfit you have to
be able to justify Aztec wear so I have
to have my tech wear jacket my tech wear
bag etc that's a mistake that I've made
in the past if you look back to some of
my earlier videos when I review products
I refer to them as you know I bought
this tech wear bag I'm wearing this tech
worthy because I personally have the
goal of wearing cool tech wear outfits
so I needed to buy cool tech wear
products so I could create those kinds
of outfits but this I think it's a bad
attitude to have for several reasons
firstly I think it can lead people down
a particular aesthetic route and you
might start avoiding product
do not look overtly technical or have
that kind of tech ninja styling etc so
if you look at the architects Adam LT
for example that's probably something
that a lot of newer people will avoid
because it doesn't have that many
features really doesn't even have a hood
so it's not super waterproof or whatever
but that's one of my most worn jackets
because it fits my lifestyle super well
I wear an underneath a lot of technical
shells I can wear it by itself as well
and alongside other tech wear products
it can still look cool and ultra-modern
and it just kind of works but by itself
it doesn't necessarily do that much it's
just kind of minimal and if you take an
approach with every individual part of
an outfit it can come across as very
tech wear starter pack there's not too
much kind of creativity or individuality
there because you're just buying the
products that you kind of know are tech
wear so therefore you should own them
secondly it can prevent you from
thinking about what it is you actually
need coming back to that same example I
wear about Adam LT such a large amount
because of the idea of flexible
insulation that I can wear or not wear
if I so choose is really really valuable
to me because here in the UK we can have
warm rain cold rain anywhere in between
that layering system is super super
useful approaching from that perspective
of what product can I buy that will
provide a great utility value to me will
lead to you purchasing better products
rather than thinking oh well this
product is more tech wear than that one
so I'll get the more tech web version
because it might not actually be
appropriate for you
water resistance is a key symptom of
this issue people think if I buy
something really water resistant that is
automatically more tech wear than
something less water resistant but you
might not actually need that for general
wearing a water-resistant sneaker is
less comfortable and more sweaty than a
lightweight and breathable shoe and 90%
of the time maybe it's not torrential
rain when you go out and you'll benefit
more from that more comfortable shoe and
similarly if you're going out a lot and
it's fairly dry or just raining a little
bit you'll get more value out of a
softshell jacket than you would a super
crunchy hard core a gore-tex shell just
by virtue of its comfort and how easily
you can move around in it how easy it is
to take on and off etc a third issue
with this
of buying individual tecware pieces is
that it's easy to assume the putting
them all together summoning tech where
Exodia that automatically makes a good
tech wear outfit because you know you're
scoring lots of tech ware points right
but that disregards how those items
actually work together whether they
bring out the best in each other or
maybe they're a bit awkward they don't
really work together that well as well
as things like the fit of those
individual pieces how they look on you
that overall silhouette things that you
would of course consider when looking at
other kinds of fashion and tech wear is
