cyberpunk high collection
they're a bit awkward
they don't
really work together that well as well
as things like the fit of those
individual pieces how they look on you
that overall silhouette things that you
would of course consider when looking at
other kinds of fashion and tech wear is
no different in that respect and again
that is absolutely a mistake that I've
made before I've just put all together
all of these things I like yeah these
are great examples of tech wear here's a
great tech wear outfit because I've worn
all of them together but it's just not
always the case so this idea of buying
stuff because it's tech wear clothing
and you want to assemble he better tech
wear outfit has multiple floors and
people can be caught out super easily
with this stuff especially if you're
just finding out about tech where you're
racing to build this cool tech wear
wardrobe because you've seen outfits
online you really like them etc they're
things that you want to replicate and
it's a style you want to get involved
with if you're not careful you may end
up with an outfit or an entire wardrobe
that doesn't work that well together or
isn't really appropriate if you're a use
case or doesn't have much of your
individual style and the things that you
personally think are really cool or
maybe it just doesn't fit you that well
but there's one other problem with
seeking out tech wear clothing to buy
and it's something that I mentioned back
in the beginner tips video and that's
that all of the top brands in this space
guys like acronym valence stone Island
Prada even guerrilla group etc etc you
will not find any of those brands
referring to tech wear clothing or
talking about tech wear if those brands
people that create those Grail tear
products that people in the tech wear
community really lust after those people
that really created and defined the
aesthetic and the performance element
that we now know as tech wear if they
don't use that term then how important
can it really be when deciding what
purchases you need to make this issue is
compounded by the fact that when we do
see the phrase tech wear clothing appear
it's often applied to and used by those
more derivative brands the guys that
aren't really innovating as much as the
top guys the guys that are creating
designs that are
very similar to the guys at the top not
quite knock off way but a not very
original way either guys that really
don't have the performance or the
features aren't as well thought how all
the products just don't fit as well or
even those Taobao resellers that take
stuff from those Chinese websites mark
it up and then sell it on without even
holding their own inventory this means
looking through the phrase tech wear
clothing can be something of a minefield
when looking for new stuff to buy
particularly if you're going for those
more affordable products because I
totally get not everyone is out there
buying stone island or acronym or
valence or whatever you do want to look
for that more affordable more realistic
stuff but even those kind of mid tier
performance brands the guys like North
Face or Patagonia or whatever that
produce perfectly serviceable outerwear
products they don't refer to their
things as tech wear clothing either so
paradoxically by looking for tech wear
clothing you will not find the best
examples of tech wear clothing that of
course is only going to exacerbate the
issues that we talked about earlier
about lack of individuality or personal
style about things not fitting as well
or not having that performance value or
utility that you personally need so we
found a problem here but what's the
solution again I'm not telling you to
not try and pursue this style not to
dress in this way and I'm certainly not
telling you not to buy products that are
associated with the style that we've
come to know as tech wear but instead
when looking at picking up new items
don't think to yourself I need to buy
tech wear clothing but instead change
those kinds of questions that you're
asking yourself when you go to make
those purchases so don't ask is this
tech wear but instead ask things like
does this contribute to the aesthetic
that I am looking for does this have the
performance or features that will bring
the value to my use case is this gonna
suit the other clothing in my water do I
have a plan of how or when I might want
to wear it is this gonna come in a size
that actually fits me by being conscious
of those factors you will undoubtedly
make better purchasing decisions even if
it doesn't change the initial product
that you were thinking about buying
you're doing so in a much more
considered and therefore in more
self-assured way you're being more
certain that when you buy that product
you're buying the right thing for you it
will also free you to explore all kinds
of brands in clothes
not just those prescribed tecware
starter pack things that you've seen
other people wearing before and you want
to imitate you can wear whatever you
want there's no reason not to and more
individuality and different perspectives
in this kind of space or in any fashion
space of course is definitely worth
having to sum this up and I suppose to
make a more general point tecware is not
a catch-all box-ticking exercise but a
way of integrating performance and
aesthetics into your wardrobe and into
your life
so stop buying tech wear clothing but
let the idea of what tech wear is inform
your purchasing decisions there's just
no other sub-genre of fashion where you
to think this way and if you try and
apply it to anything else it just makes
it sound ridiculous like I don't know if
you're really into Japanese Street where
for example you wouldn't be like mmm I
hope this new jumper has enough Japanese
street wear points to put it in my
Japanese street wear off it you just
like it just sounds stupid you would buy
it because you like it because it fits
in your wardrobe and if your style kind
of aligns with Japanese Street wear then
great that's really cool so hopefully
that has gone some way towards
influencing the way that you think about
this style of clothing and when you come
to make those purchases in future you
will have some of these ideas in mind
and if you do that then I reckon oh I
know I promise I promise you that you
will make better purchasing decisions
you will buy stuff that is more
appropriate potentially more individual
better-looking whatever you it's gonna
be better it's gonna be better in some
way but of course as always it's over to
you what do you think about this idea of
tech wear clothing do you think it's a
term that should be attributed to more
products or are you more of the opinion
that yeah you shouldn't really be buying
things with tech wear clothing in mind
